Transportation Development Act Reform – Draft Updated Framework Released

California’s Transportation Development Act (TDA) of 1971 provides the lifeblood of public transportation funding in California. The TDA is an important source of funding for the state’s public transit agencies, representing approximately 18 percent of their total revenue between the TDA’s two revenue streams – Local Transportation Funds (LTF) and the State Transit Assistance (STA) Program.

The California Transit Association has released the initial draft results of a year-long effort by a task force of public transit operators and regional transportation planning agencies to examine TDA’s performance measures, at the request of legislative leaders, and, to put forward a concept framework for possible legislative revisions to those aspects of TDA.
